Studio Georgeville is an art gallery and cultural centre run by the Coopérative des Artistes de Georgeville. It is situated in a historic building in the heart of Georgeville on the eastern shore of Lake Memphremagog in the Eastern Townships of Quebec.

Since its inauguration in late June of 2008, Studio Georgeville has hosted numerous juried exhibitions, featuring work by artists from the Townships, as well as from other parts of Quebec and Ontario. It has also hosted two non-juried children’s art shows; workshops by Townships watercolour artist Denis Palmer; Montreal photographer Linda Rutenberg; and Georgeville basketmaker Judy Bachelder; and several literary events, including, most recently, a presentation by Montreal bestselling novelist Claire Holden Rothman.

During the fall and winter months, Studio Georgeville holds “movie nights” every second week, featuring a mix of feature films, documentaries, and animated films. There are also special film presentations held at Murray Memorial Hall to accommodate a larger audience. In February of 2008, we screened an award-winning documentary called Finding Life. The Ottawa filmmaker, Elia Saikaly, was on hand to introduce the film and answer questions afterwards. In December of 2009, we screened the highly popular documentary Laughology. The Bolton West filmmaker, Albert Nerenberg, was on hand to introduce the film and give us some exercises in laughter.

The president of the Coopérative des Artistes de Georgeville is sculptor Mary Cartmel. The other members are cabinetmaker-photographer Niels Jensen (treasurer), writer-photographer-filmmaker Louise Abbott, multi-media artist Elin Gustafson (gallery director), printmaker Agnes Power, painter Pam Cartwright, and arts administrator Arlette Straessle.

From June 30 to September 27, we are open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The rest of the year we are open on Saturday and Sunday only from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
