Nos heures d'ouverture : de 11h à 17h du mardi au dimanche de la fin de juin à la fin de septembre. Et à l'année le samedi et dimanche seulement de 11h à 17h.
Studio Georgeville is an art gallery and cultural centre run by the Coopérative des Artistes de Georgeville. It is situated in a historic building in the heart of Georgeville on the eastern shore of Lake Memphremagog in the Eastern Townships of Quebec.
Since its inauguration in late June of 2008, Studio Georgeville has hosted numerous juried exhibitions, featuring work by artists from the Townships, as well as from other parts of Quebec and Ontario. It has also hosted two non-juried children’s art shows; workshops by Townships watercolour artist Denis Palmer; Montreal photographer Linda Rutenberg; and Georgeville basketmaker Judy Bachelder; and several literary events, including presentations by Montreal bestselling novelist Claire Holden Rothman and internationally acclaimed mystery writer Louise Penny.
During the fall and winter months, Studio Georgeville holds “movie nights” every second week, featuring a mix of feature films, documentaries, and animated films. There are also special film presentations held at Murray Memorial Hall to accommodate a larger audience. In February of 2008, we screened an award-winning documentary called Finding Life. The Ottawa filmmaker, Elia Saikaly, was on hand to introduce the film and answer questions afterwards. In December of 2009, we screened the highly popular documentary Laughology. The Bolton West filmmaker, Albert Nerenberg, was on hand to introduce the film and give us some exercises in laughter. In October of 2010, we screened the stunning new documentary Oceans as a benefit for the Memphremagog Wetlands Foundation.
We also hosted a concert at Murray Memorial Hall in January of 2010 to raise money for the Canadian Red Cross to assist earthquake victims in Haiti. In January of 2011, we held a concert of nineteenth-century music performed by Vito DeFilippo and Sarah Hoblyn, along with the premiere of Louise Abbott's documentary Historic Georgeville: Walks and Talks with John Boynton.
The president of the Coopérative des Artistes de Georgeville is writer, photographer, and filmmaker Louise Abbott. The other members are multi-media artist Elin Gustafson (vice-president and gallery director), cabinetmaker-photographer Niels Jensen (treasurer), printmaker Agnes Power (secretary), painter Pam Cartwright, painter Virginia Cope, and arts administrator Arlette Straessle.
From the end of June to the end of September, we are open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The rest of the year we are open on Saturday and Sunday only from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
